Bar chart #2

The bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian male and female from various age brackets staying frequently active in the year 2010

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the figure for women regularly taking part in physical activities registered higher percentages than their male counterparts at all ages, with the exception of the age group of 15 to 24. Middle aged females were most physically active, while males aged 35 to 44 did the least exercises.

In the youngest age group in question, men routinely taking exercises was at its peak at 52.8%, whereas women was slightly lower at 47.7% in 2010. However, males’ figure significantly declined thereafter to a trough of 39.5% in the 35 to 44 age group, while females’ proportion grew by a considerable 4.8%.

Between the ages of 45 to 54, the percentage of women staying physically active hit the highest point at 53.3%, while males’ figure remained approximately 10% lower, accounting for 43.1%. Two genders then experienced opposite trajectories, with males’ percentage rising to 46.7% and females reducing to 47.1% in the oldest age bracket surveyed.
