The chart illustrates the outcomes of a research on the habits of purchasing and consuming coffee and tea in five different cities in Australia in the four previous weeks.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that going to a cafe for coffee and tea  was the most popular option in all cities except for Adelaide. On the contrary,  buying fresh coffee was the least common choice compared with the other two categories. 

Looking at going to a cafe, Melbourne’s population accounted for the largest proportion at roughly 63%, with Hobart and Sydney being marginally lower at around 62% and 61% respectively. Brisbane’s figure was also comparably high, making up over 55%, followed by Adelaide at just under 50%. In addition, Adelaide was the only city where buying instant coffee registered the highest figure at exactly 50%. 

Buying instant coffee was the most popular in Hobart at nearly 55%, Brisbane was next at roughly 53% and the last two were Melbourne and Sydney at around 48% and 46% respectively. Furthermore, purchasing fresh coffee was most characteristic of Sydney and Melbourne at approximately 44% and 42%. Brisbane and Adelaide’s figures in this category were significantly lower, with the former accounting for about 34% and the latter 34.5%.
