Cinema-goers in US

The line chart shows average attendance at the cinema among various age groups in the US from 2000 to 2011.

The line chart illustrates the figure for cinema-goers in different age brackets in the US over a period of eleven years starting from 2000

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the percentages of attendance at the cinema in all age groups witnessed upward trajectories throughout the period, with the most notable growth recorded in the 15-24 age group. Going to the cinema was less popular among older individuals, especially for those aged over 35.

In 2000, the 15-24 age bracket registered the highest data at around 18%, while the opposite was true for those aged 35 and over at about 2%. The former thereafter rose drastically to reach slightly over 30% by 2004, fluctuated from 35% to 50% over the next two years before continuing its growth to finish at 52% in 2011. In contrast, the latter group experienced a more steady rise to achieve a high of 13% in the final year.

Precisely ten percent of those in the 7-14 age group went to the cinema in 2000, more than double the figure for the 25-35 category at 4%. Both age brackets then saw significant increases, with their data intersecting twice from 2004 to 2006 and from 2008 to 2010 before converging at exactly 30% in 2011.
