Automobile survey

Task 1: The bar charts display the results from a 2009 survey regarding people’s automobile in a European country

The bar charts illustrate the outcome of a report conducted in 2009 concerning individuals’ cars. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the majority of drivers replaced their automobiles every five years or more, while the lowest figure was observed among those who changed their cars every year. In addition, an overwhelmingly large percentage of people were interested in buying a used car.

The percentage of drivers changing their cars annually was negligible, whereas slightly over 50% of drivers were reported to replace their vehicles after five years or more. The second most prevalent option was changing one’s car every three to four years, representing the choice of around 38% of drivers, followed distantly by those replacing their cars every two years, accounting for a mere 4%. Around 3% of drivers never changed their cars, a proportion comparable to the 2% who owned no car at all.

Looking next at the second bar chart, the figure for individuals deciding to purchase a second-hand car was greatest at nearly 80%, with the second most popular option being buying a new car at roughly 25%. Only approximately 10% of individuals were divided over whether to buy a brand new car or a used one, which was still far higher than the figure for those with no cars at 1%.
