Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that cars were most prevalent in the UK, the US and especially in Italy, while the same was true for bicycles in France. Motorcycles were the least popular transport in all nations except in the US.
The percentage of cars used in Italy was most significant at around 73%, followed by the UK and the US at precisely 60% each. France’s figure was considerably lower at exactly 40%, and France was the only country where bicycles were most widely used, accounting for approximately 45%.
The data for motorcycle riders in France, the UK and Italy were comparable at about 11%, 10% and 9%, respectively, whereas the US’ proportion was greatest at 30%. Regarding the preferences for bicycles, this was the least favorite transport in the US at merely 10%, marginally lower than Italy at 11% and only one-third of the UK at 30%.
