The pie chart illustrates the percentage of bottled water consumed in different areas in relation to global water usage in 1999 and the bar chart indicates the increases in proportion of bottled water consumption after two years. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the US consumed by far the greatest amount of water, while Western Europe and Australia’s figures were negligible. In addition, the most significant growth in water consumption was recorded in Asia, whereas the least notable rise was registered in Western Europe.
Looking first of all at the pie chart, the US represented the most prominent percentage of water consumption at 48%, followed distantly by Asia at 15%, the Middle East at 13%, and Africa at 10%. The remaining four regions constituted comparable proportions, with Latin America and New Zealand being equal at 5%, while Western Europe and Australia contributed 2% apiece.
Concerning the bar chart, Asia witnessed the most considerable growth in water consumption, rising by 14%, markedly higher than Western Europe’s growth of only 3%. New Zealand and Latin America’s increases in percentage were identical, accounting for 11.5% each. Similar trends were observed in Africa and the Middle East, with both rising by around 10%.
