In 1960, agriculture constituted the majority of India’s GDP at around 62%, followed distantly by services at 16% and industry at 15%. Over the following twenty years, agriculture’s proportion declined steadily to about 45%, whereas services and industry’s figures underwent upward trends to reach 27% and 25%, for each.
