The pie charts demonstrate various kinds of courses pursued by students in 1984, 1994 and 2004.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the majority of students attended in-person courses in all the years in question. In 1984, online courses were not available for registration.
In the first year surveyed, face-to-face courses were most popular with a total of 67% students registering, significantly higher than 20% of students going to correspondence courses and 13% to mixed media ones. Over the following ten years, despite slightly falling to 54% of attendees, in-person courses continued to be most popular among students, while the opposite was the case for online courses, which only attracted 11% of students. Correspondence courses’ percentage was unaltered at 20%, whereas mixed media courses’ grew marginally to 15%.
In 2004, face-to-face, correspondence, and online courses all witnessed declines to reach 40%, 15%, and 10%, respectively. In contrast, the percentage for those choosing mixed media courses more than doubled to 35%.
