Task 1: The graph and the chart below show the number of students choosing different kinds of courses in a university in 2012.
The graph and the chart illustrate how many students were engaged in various types of courses available in a university in 2012. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that social sciences were the most popular field for both genders, while the opposite was true for agriculture. Social sciences, health, and humanities tended to be chosen more by women, whereas the STEM subjects are more commonly pursued by men.
In terms of the line graph, the figure for individuals studying social sciences was highest at 7,000, followed distantly by engineering’s data at precisely 3,000. The enrollment statistics for the fields of health, humanities, and science and math were comparable, accounting for 2,100, 2,300, and 2000, respectively. Finally, agriculture attracted the least number of enrollees, totalling just around 500.
The number of female students registering for social sciences was most significant at 4,000, considerably higher than men’s figure at nearly 3,000. Similarly, health and humanities were more preferred by women, with around 1,500 enrollees, while the numbers for men were at or below 1,000 for both fields. On the other hand, men were more interested in engineering, science and math, recording approximately 2,200 and 1,200, in turn, while these figures for females were only 1,000 and 800, in turn. Both men and women show equal interest in agriculture, with 250 participants each.
