These environmentally conscious companies often take further measures to drive consumer behavior towards sustainable living. A standout example of an additional positive action can be seen in Starbucks as customers receive free upsized upgrades if they bring their own cups.
Advocates of consumer responsibility place great emphasis on their power to engender long-term shifts in business practices. Through consumers refusing to frequent stores with excessive packaging waste, companies can be either forced out of business or to change to more eco-friendly policies.
