The diagram illustrates how a specific variety of coal is utilized in the generation of electricity. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the process of electricity production is divided into three main stages. These consist of the initial extraction of coal, its treatment in various facilities, and finally the distribution/provision of electricity to necessary areas.
At the beginning, coal is extracted from underground mines and subsequently subjected to a crushing process. The resulting smaller pieces of coal are thereafter loaded on trucks to be transferred to a gasifier, in which it is heated to create gas.
In the following stages, the produced gas is conveyed to a separate facility, where it is cooled to dissipate residual heat and then sent to another treatment plant for purification. After that, the clean gas enters a gas power plant and is combusted to generate electricity, with additional waste heat released as a byproduct of the conversion process. Lastly, the produced electricity is transmitted through power lines and supplied to various end users, including households and industrial facilities.
