Technology in learning

Today many teenagers rely greatly on technology when learning.

Is this a positive or negative development?

At present, a large number of teenagers are dependent on technology for their studies. In my opinion, although these students are less likely to develop certain skills, the positives associated with increased productivity make this propensity decidedly positive on the whole.

Detractors of the use of technology to assist one’s studies typically argue that it leads to incompetence. The ease of access to answers online for challenging academic questions is likely to translate to students not being able to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A pertinent example of this can be demonstrated with mathematical problems as students can now find keys and detailed explanations on Google with relative ease. The overreliance on technology for studies can also extend to other life aspects, which can be detrimental to one’s overall personal growth. Students who lack a sense of independence may excessively seek help from others when encountering problems and therefore are less likely to achieve their full potential.

However, I would contend that this trend is unequivocally positive as it results in higher levels of productivity. With the help of advanced learning tools, students now can complete difficult assignments considerably faster and acquire more knowledge as a result. The benefits of the use of technology are evident when studying history and literature, in which chat GPT allows for quick summarization of main points and saves time for students. Those who successfully utilize and incorporate technology into their studies are likely to become highly productive workers in the future. Thanks to a deep understanding of technology, the future labor force can work more efficiently and contribute significantly to a given nation’s economic growth.

In conclusion, despite the potential for hindering one’s personal growth, the reliance on technology can, in reality, help students become more productive and thus should be encouraged. Schools and teachers should acknowledge the clear advantages of technology and create tests that are more relevant to the current trend.
