The table illustrates the percentages of adults gaining access to the internet at different frequencies in a particular European nation over a period of four years starting from 2006. From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the proportions of adults engaging in online activities daily and weekly generally grew over time. These increases were at the expense of declines in those going online three times a month and non-internet users.
In 2006, the data for those who were active online on a daily basis was highest at 36%, significantly greater than the 15% recorded for those being online weekly. The former figure thereafter soared to finish the period at 72%, whereas the latter witnessed minor fluctuations throughout the period, reaching a peak of 29% in 2008, before falling to end at 22% in 2010.
In contrast, the percentage of non-internet users stood at 34% in the first year surveyed, then declined considerably to 16% in 2008, prior to a further drop to a mere 1% in 2010. From 2006 to 2007, the figure for those going online three times each month remained at 15%, after which it decreased threefold to culminate at 5% in 2010.
