The chart illustrates the sales of various types of jam over a period of five years starting from 2009. From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the figures for all types of jam sold witnessed upward trends, with the exception of plum. It is also noteworthy that strawberry sales were most significant throughout the period, despite being surpassed for a brief moment by raspberry sales in around 2012.
Looking first of all at the sales of strawberry jam, this data was highest in 2009, at 3.3 million units, followed closely by that of raspberry jam at 2.8 million units. Both figures thereafter grew steadily to converge at nearly 5 million units by 2012, after which the former increased more significantly to finish at precisely 7 million units and the latter plateaued to end at 5.5 million units. In contrast, although the sales of plum claimed the third place at roughly 2.5 million units in 2009, this figure subsequently followed a steady decline, with the final year recording zero units sold.
The sales of grape jam was least considerable at 0.5 million units, which was nearly half of cherry jam sales at 1.8 million units. The data for both types of jam thereafter witnessed opposite patterns, with grape jam’s figure growing significantly to exceed plum jam and culminating at 4.5 million units sold, while the figure for units of plum jam sold steadily declined to reach zero sales at the end of the period.
