Types of metals

The line graph illustrates how prices of three types of metals changed each month in 2014.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the changes in percentage of all three metals were generally positive  at the beginning and at the end of the year, while the figures were mostly negative during mid-year. There were declines in the prices of copper and nickel, whereas the opposite was true for zinc.

In January, the change in proportion of nickel was by far the most significant at 6%, followed by copper (2%) and zinc (1%). Nickel and copper’s data thereafter witnessed downward trajectories, with the former (Nickel) falling dramatically to 1% before hitting a low of -3% and the latter reducing gradually to -0.5% in June. In contrast, zinc’s figure reached its peak of 3% in February, then a low of -1% in June.

In the second half of the year, the change in percentage of copper, zinc, and nickel all grew and plateaued at 1%, -0.5%, and -1%, respectively.  From September to October, all three metals’ statistics dipped slightly and then recovered, with copper finishing at 1.5%, zinc at 2%, and nickel at 1%.
