Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the amount of time allocated to domestic and international and all mobile phone calls grew throughout the period, while this was only true for local calls between 1995 and 1999 as their general trend was stable. Most time was spent on local calls over the seven-year course, though the gap significantly narrowed towards the end of the period.
In 1995, the number of minutes spent on local fixed line calls was by far the greatest at slightly over 70 billion, followed by national and international fixed line, and all mobile calls at 37 billion and 3 billion, respectively. Over the following four years, all categories underwent upward trajectories, with the most significant growth for local fixed calls reaching a peak of precisely 90 billion minutes and more moderate rises for national and international calls and mobiles (50 billion and 12 billion minutes for each).
From 1995 to 2002, the trend reversed for the amount of time spent on local fixed line calls, with this figure gradually declining to finish the period at around 72 billion minutes. In contrast, national and international fixed line calls, and all calls continued their growth patterns, with the former ending at 61 billion minutes and the latter 45 billion.
