The chart demonstrates the registration statistics for various means of transport in Europe over a period of a decade starting from 1996. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that private automobiles were the most dominant type of vehicle in both years in question, while the opposite was the case for bus, coach, and taxi. The usage of private cars and other modes of transport grew after ten years, whereas the figures for motorcyclists and lorry drivers witnessed declines and that of bus,coach, and taxi remained unchanged.
In 1996, the utilization of private cars was most notable, accounting for 19 million, which was in stark contrast to bus, coach, and taxis’ figures, recording only 0,1 million. The figure for truck drivers stood at 0,5 million, which was precisely half that of motorcycles at 1 million and one-third of other types of transport at 1,5 million.
After ten years, the number of private car users grew significantly to 24 million, recording a positive percentage change of 26.32%. Similarly, the use of other types of vehicles also became more common, rising to 2 million users and representing a considerably higher change in percentage of 58,33%. The negative percentage change for lorry drivers was double that of motorcyclists, registering -20.00% and -40.00%, respectively, with the former falling to 0,4 million and the latter to 0.6 million. Only the usage of buses, coaches, and taxis remained unaltered at 0.1 million.
