The bar chart illustrates how various cities dispose of waste. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that incineration is the most popular method of waste disposal in Kuala Lumpur and Madrid, while landfill is where most trash is found in Toronto and Amman. All cities in question are least likely to compost waste.
Looking first of all at Toronto, the vast majority of waste in this city is landfill sites, representing around 75%, followed distantly by incineration, recycling, and composting at 11%, 8%, and 7%, respectively. Amman also dumped most of its waste in landfill, recording nearly 50% of total waste, with incineration being the second most common way of waste disposal, responsible for roughly 38% of all waste. Compost is the least prevalent method as only about 6% is processed this way.
A significantly higher percentage of waste is incinerated in Kuala Lumpur compared to Madrid, accounting for 55% and precisely 40%, in turn. In contrast, landfill sites in Madrid receive a greater proportion of waste than Kuala Lumpur, with the former registering 29% and the latter 15%. Both cities constituted equal percentages of waste recycled at 22% apiece, whereas Madrid composts slightly more waste than Kuala Lumpur, with their respective figures being 9% and 7%.
