Australian worlforce

The line graph delineates the proportion of the Australian labor force in various sectors over a period of 50 years starting from 1962.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the majority of Australians worked in services, while the opposite was true for the mining industry. There were increases in the workforce of the services, construction, and mining industry, and declines in the remaining sectors.

Slightly over 50% of the labor force concentrated in the services industry, followed by manufacturing at around 27%. The former witnessed a significant growth to reach 73% in 1992, then a more gradual rise to finish at just under 80% in 2012. In contrast, the latter initially remained stable over the first ten years before dropping steadily to finish at exactly 10% at the end of the period.

The figure for the workforce in the mining industry was most negligible at only 1%, substantially lower than the construction sector at nearly 10%. Both industries thereafter experienced slight rises, with mining achieving 3% and construction 10% in 2012. On the contrary, the agriculture sector started at 11%, then intersected twice with manufacturing while consistently declining to 5%.
