Copying famous people

Some young people like to copy the behavior and clothes of famous people today.

Why might this be the case?

What problems can it cause?

An increasing number of young people now are trying to imitate how popular individuals of society act and wear. This is mainly due to the sense of success engendered from appearing similar to these celebrities. However, this propensity can result in teenagers having antisocial behaviors and spending money wastefully.

Having the same looks as famous people can create feelings of great importance and fulfillment. Celebrities now have become much more influential due to the development of social media as fans can be constantly updated about their personal opinions ranging from choices of clothing and lifestyles. These idols are typically the embodiment of success and wealth in life, which translates to their actions and their fashion styles becoming naturally appealing to the young audience. Furthermore, these public figures are hired by a wide range of brands to endorse their products, not only increasing the items’ credibility in the minds of consumers but also their sales. A pertinent example of this is a significant number of recreational athletes wear the same shoes as Christian Ronaldo as they believe that this particular product can boost their performance during a football match.

Nevertheless, teenagers can be negatively influenced by the extremist views that some celebrities have. Well-known people might be involved in morally wrong and scandalous activities, which set unhealthy examples for the young to follow. Various renowned US rappers encourage the use of illegal drugs in their songs, raising the likelihood of juveniles developing substance addiction. There is also another problem associated with consumerism. Most of the posts published online by famous people include advertisements, with the aim to stimulate wasteful spending to generate as much profits as possible for large corporations. Fashion influencers upload themselves wearing glamorous clothes that constantly change over time, leaving followers endlessly spending in excesses to mimic their styles.

In conclusion, as well as feeling respected, most young people enjoy possessing what famous individuals’ own since these items are thought to have higher quality. Nonetheless, this tendency can lead to young people to make impulsive purchases and have criminal behaviors. Parents should therefore monitor teenagers’ online activities and provide guidance to help them find good role models.
