The main reason why innovation takes precedence in many workplaces is because it is the foundation for major breakthroughs. In a highly competitive market dominated by well-established businesses, small companies require great levels of creativity to be able to stay competitive and relevant. A standout example that highlights the importance of innovation is Netflix, whose success can be attributed to its ability to capitalize on the rising demand for streaming services and replace outdated DVD players. Such innovations also give a company business advantages to outperform other rivals. Despite having the most expertise on phones at the time, Nokia was surpassed by Apple, a technological company that places great emphasis on pioneering touch-screen smartphones.
I would argue that this development is unequivocally positive overall because it propels society forward. While technical expertise ensures the stability of an existing system, creativity has the potential to drive transformative changes and engenders benefits that transcend the boundaries of the organization. For example, doctors can treat cancer patients with advanced medical procedures such as chemotherapy and surgery, but it is the creativity of medical researchers that ultimately leads to a cure and benefits humanity at large. Relatedly, initiatives taken by companies like Tesla and Vinfast to make electric cars affordable can result in reduced carbon dioxide emissions and therefore promote environmental protection. These innovations not only address immediate problems but also pave the way for long-term sustainable development across industries.
In conclusion, innovation has become the most valuable asset to an organization as it plays an instrumental role in a company’s success. This is a positive shift because it advances the progress of humanity.
