Pie chart #4

The pie charts delineate the proportions for various genres of publications sold by a bookseller in the years 1972, 1992 and 2012.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that adult fiction became by far the most popular category over the years, which was compensated  for by decreases in the figures for travel, biography and others. Furthermore,  the popularity of fictional books for children grew.

In 1972, interest in other genres was the greatest, with 25% of books sold, while travel books generated the least sales at 15%. Adult fiction, children’s fiction and biography all shared equal data at 20%. After twenty years, fictitious publications for adults and children both witnessed increases, with the former rising to 25% and the latter to 22%. The same was true for travel as it grew slightly to 18%, whereas others and biography each declined by exactly 5% to 20% and 15%, in turn.

Turning to the final year in question, the statistics for adult fiction books sold surged and achieved a record level of 45% at the expense of reductions in others, travel and biography’ percentages to reach 12%, 10% and 8%, for each. Children’s fiction also continued its growth to finally end at 25%.
