The bar chart illustrates how long individuals lived in various countries and the table indicates the rise in longevity over a period of 55 years starting from 1953. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that Japanese citizens lived the longest, followed by Koreans, Americans, and lastly Indonesians. Over the period in question, Indonesia recorded the most significant increase in lifespan, while the US registered the least notable change.
Looking first at the bar chart, Japan has the highest life expectancy, with its population living up to 80 years on average, with Korea’s figure trailing slightly at around 79 years and the US’s at roughly 77 years. Indonesians are outlived by their counterparts in other three countries, recording an average lifespan of only 70 years.
Turning to the table, Indonesia and Korea displayed the most prominent changes in life expectancy, with their demographic living an additional 15.7 and 12.5 years on average, respectively. The increases in longevity in Japan and the US were comparable, with the former being 3.5 years and the latter 3 years.
