Wild animals and birds protection

Some people claim that it is necessary to spend a lot of resources on protecting wild animals and birds.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Many feel that excessive budgetary allocation to preserve wildlife is essential. In my opinion, although human intervention is unnatural to an extent, it is still an overall positive for humans to take action to prevent irreparable damage in the future.

Detractors of conservation efforts claim that human involvement in nature can disrupt the ecological balance. The natural cycle of life and death promotes biological diversity and maintains a critical balance for the environment as a whole. Human interference is likely to disrupt the food chain as certain animals will flourish while others may die out. Furthermore, investment in protecting wild animals can be a serious economic burden for less developed nations. Most endangered species are located in Asia and South America where there is widespread poverty and common occurrences of natural disasters such as floods and droughts. Therefore, the authorities justifiably prioritize human interests over safeguarding animals.

However, animal extinctions are mostly caused by human activities, therefore  it is only reasonable for humans to accept responsibility. Human activities ranging from industrial growth to deforestation have contributed to contaminated waterways and polluted air, resulting in many animals being on the verge of extinction. Therefore, humans should be obligated to provide protection for these animals to prevent irreversible consequences. Thriving biodiversity also plays an integral role in human life as it aids medical development and ensures stable food sources. For this reason, investment should be required to limit the devastating effects on wildlife, preventing future generations from possibly living less convenient and comfortable lifestyles.

In conclusion, despite the financial costs, a significant amount of resources should be distributed to conserve species that may become extinct. The government and society must be cognizant and subsidize conservation programs immediately.
